Interview and Giveaway with Jaime Rush

United By Books is very pleased to have Jaime Rush on the blog today so we can learn a bit more about her and her amazing books......
Jaime~  Aw, why thank you!

1 ~ First share with us a little about yourself?

I was born and have lived in Southwest Florida my whole life, though I do escape to the mountains of North Carolina in the summer. I've always had a storytelling yen, and sold my first book in 1995 to St. Martin's Press. DARKNESS BECOMES HER marks my 24th book, which is beyond my comprehension. Plus two novellas and one in the BITTEN BY CUPID anthology. The first part of my career I wrote under Tina Wainscott, and when I changed publishers and went back to my paranormal romantic suspense roots, I created my alter ego, Jaime Rush.

I've started republishing those earlier books, most paranormal romantic suspense (but not a series), and have become an indie-publisher! It's exciting to be on the back end of the business, as well as a lot of work, but it's so gratifying to see those out of print books out there again.

2 ~ Please tell us a little about your newest release (Darkness Becomes her 5.29)?

Lachlan McLeod, a man beyond redemption, has a mission: find the beast who put his brother into a coma. He'll start with Jessie Bellandre, his brother's girlfriend, who's harboring a dark, dangerous secret that could get them all killed. Honor is all Lachlan has, and as they plumb the depths of Darkness, not falling in love with her will be as hard as staying alive.

3 ~ What's in store next for your readers or can you share anything about your current WIP?

Right now I'm writing book 2 of a brand new series, which comes out next year. The series is about Crescents, humans who hold the essence of deities and walk the knife's edge between the glamour of Miami and the Hidden, a place filled with dark magick. Dragons, angels, and sorcerers, Crescents must fight the dissension amongst their kind, magical beings, and the lure of their darkest nature.

As soon as I'm done with book 2, I'm going to finish the Offspring series by writing Magnus's story and also pulling in Pope, who appears in BEYOND THE DARKNESS and captured readers' imagination. It will be sad to say goodbye to the series, but you never know … there may be more novellas in the future!

4 ~ How do you describe your writing style?

Fast-paced, close third person (meaning you're really in the point of view character's mind/heart), and accessible.

5~ Is there anything you find particularly challenging about writing?

Balancing the promotional side of things with the writing side. Writers are creative beings, but we must also be businesspeople, too. Really most of us just want to burrow into our worlds and stories. I do love to interact with readers, though, on Facebook and Twitter, as long as I don't linger too much.

6~ Please tell the Readers in two sentences why they should check out your Offspring series.

It's a great combination of action, suspense, romance and sexiness! The paranormal elements are a bit different than what's out there.

7~ How would you describe yourself in three words?

Dedicated, creative, and nature-loving.

8~ What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Spend time with friends and family, ride Sea Doos on the lake, and read!

9~ Who would you pick between Thor, Ironman , and Captian America?

Mmm. I haven't watched any of those movies yet, though they are in the queue! How about I go with Duncan McLeod of the Highlander TV series?

10~ What would you do for a klondike bar ?

I'd go jump in the lake!

11 ~ What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?

Never give up!

12~ What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Despite the fact that I write dark and dangerous fiction, I'm a very spiritual person.

13~ How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

My husband and I went out to a fancy waterfront restaurant. Finances were pretty tight so it was a splurge!

14 ~ Is there anything special you would like to say to your readers while we have you here today?

I'm celebrating the release of DARKNESS BECOMES HER with my Kick Butt First Line contest.  Shocking, suspenseful…make us want more!  Cash prizes! Contest runs until July 1, 2012. For aspiring authors, it's a chance to get your name out there and add a "win" to your bio.  For readers, it's a chance to play at being a writer.  Even if you're not inclined to write a line, check out the entries—they're a lot of fun!  For details, go to www.JaimeRush.com and click on the Contest link.

I also want to thank my readers and fans for their dedication and enthusiasm for my books over the years. Readers rock!

I have read all of Jaime's Offspring books. LOVE THEM ALL and I've been telling EVERYONE to read them. They are different and you fall in love with her characters. I will be sorry to see the series end but then I'm sure she'll wrap it up in a great way. I'm excited for Pope's story and really excited for Duncan's story. I fell for those brothers when she introduces us to them. A favorite? I don't know they were all good but I'll have to go with the first one about Amy & Lukas because it drug me into the series.

PS I tried to go to your website and it says your domain name has expired. May want to check it out...

Hey, Pimpin' Reads, just that even in the narrative, you're really in the POV character's mind, thoughts, and feelings.

Carla, you're awesome! Amazaballs..love it! Yes, gotta give Pope an HEA. He just took on a life of his own!

Ronda, I KNOW! Highlander inspired me in this series. I miss it so, and Adrian Paul's newer stuff...meh. He was just IT as Duncan.

Thanks, Evan! I loved watching Petra grow into her own.

Thanks, Glittergirl! I'll have a lot to wrap up so the last installment will be packed with action and smexiness! Yeah, Amy and Lucas will always have a special place in my heart as my Offspring first. Thanks for the heads up on my site. Apparently the hosting co didn't renew it (though I paid up). On it now!

Thanks everyone for putting my books on the TBR list and good luck! I'll stop by again later.
