Review for Snows Heat

Title: Snows Heat
Author:Nicole Hicks
Description:
When your husband declares you aren't enough after ten years, don't get mad… Get a Bic and start a bonfire!
When Sabrina’s husband decides to move on to greener, and freer pastures, she knows she has to move on herself. Wounded and alone, she escapes to a friend’s cabin to think about her future…and burn her past. Literally.
Can she rise from the ashes of her marriage a new woman, or did she lose too much trying to salvage an illusion? Dealing with the heartache of her new reality, she meets a mystery man in the backwoods. One that makes her burn with desire.
Once just a soldier, now Travis is something…more. His last tour changed him in more ways than one. Can he come to terms with what he is, while dealing with the mixture of lust and possessiveness Bree brings out in him? Or is her past too much for him to handle?

Summary: After  going through a divorce from a cheating husband, Bree decides to get away from it all to clear her head and find herself . Her reason for this was to let go of her past and make it better for her children when she returned. Travis, who once was a soldier, came up to the woods to be away from people, sees her, and thinks she is poaching on his territory. This was his place to deal with everything that had happened on his last deployment that still haunted him and the strange things happening to him from the animal attack.  Travis goes to warn Bree of a big cat in the area, but that doesn't scare her enough to leave. Soon she is starting up a bonfire to rid her of all things past to look to her future. Travis sees this and goes to her, not wanting Bree to be alone during this time. While
comforting Bree, watching the past turn to ash, gun shots ring out in the distance and Travis goes to check it out, placing a scorching kiss on her before he leaves. Soon, his leopard side as well as his human side decide she is all the woman he needs. And this kitty likes cougars and the cream this cougar can give him.

My thoughts: Nicole Hicks is a break out author, but this short story had me from the beginning. It had me feeling the pain and heartache in the beginning as well as the rising passion as Travis and Bree kissed. When they finally let their passions ignite, and their bodies talk, I was seeing fireworks in that connection. My only complaint is that it was a short story, and left me wanting more when it finally came to an end. Nicole did a wonderful job on a short story. I hope to see more of her stories in the future.

Note:This was a ARC the release is June 27th and then i will be adding the link to where you can purchase it

Review for Trinity ( The Brethren Series)

Title : Trinity (The Brethren Series)
Author: Deena Remiel
Description: One way or another, terror will reign tonight...

School teacher and single mom, Emma Livingston, has been through hell—and back so she thinks. While dealing with the night terrors and active imagination of her five-year old daughter, Hannah, she attempts to lead a normal life. That is, until the demon from those nightmares pays her a visit, too and threatens both of their lives. Desperate, she reaches out for help—and finds Michael waiting.

Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears, as protecting Emma and Hannah from Evil tests his ability to fight his tortured past.

As the Trinity is formed, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, Hannah becomes the main target and Emma wonders if a normal life will ever be possible again. Hope is like an anchor, but can a mother, her daughter, and an angel overcome an evil determined to annihilate the world?

Summary: Emma is a single mother to 5 year old Hannah who has been waking up the last six months from nightmares. At least she thought they were nightmares until Hannah told her the evil Agremon who has been trying to get her for his master, Namirha. Emma didn't believe what Hannah was telling her and then she had her own little incident. Michael is there to help her through the incident brought on by Agremon and finally shares what has been going on with Hannah. Once Michael hears this, he tells her he is an Angel. And not just any angel, but a protector. To top it off, Emma and (most especially) Hannah, are very special in the war against evil.Emma, not believing what Michael is telling her, kicks him out and cant believe she trusted him. Then another incident, brought on by Agremon, issues Michael to move in and protect her yet again, making her a believer. Soon the rest of the Brethren show up, and the training to defeat evil begins.

My Thoughts: Deena Remiel paints the picture and you cant help but keep turning the page to see if good will triumph over evil. At one point in the book my phone rang in an intense scene, and I actually jumped. To me, I had been in that scene and Agremon was my enemy. The love and passion growing and forming between Michael and Emma had me smiling, and kept turning the page to get more. The Brethren and Hannah had me cheering out loud. At this stage i'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. By the end of this book, you will know......ANGELS DO EXIST.....AND EVIL BETTER WATCH OUT.

Book Signing For "Dead Reckoning"

On a cool, rainy Sunday afternoon in May people line up at Barnes & Noble in Indianapolis. The reason for this flock of over 250 people was the creator of one the best selling series and current Number One Best seller holder, Charlaine Harris. Ms. Harris is the renowned author of a multitude of mystery series, but is probably best known for her latest works, The Southern Vampire Mysteries, which are the inspiration for HBO’s hit show True Blood.
-
Barnes & Noble’s staff was ready like a well oiled machine for the event. At 10 a.m. they began to hand out wristbands with a character’s name on them. 25 people per group starting with Sookie. I arrived at 10:30 and was in group Jason. By the end of the day there would be 10 groups total, Sookie, Eric, Bill, Pam, Jason, Sam, Alcide, Quinn, Calvin, and Claude. At 2:15 p.m. we all began to line up for the signing at 3 p.m. Everything was calm and professional as each group was called and followed a bouncing red arrow to indicate where they should stand. The line eventually wrapped through aisles back to the Starbucks.

At 3 p.m. Ms. Harris was introduced. She appeared on a platform, so she was up off the ground, giving most everyone a good view of her as she spoke. Some what surprised at the number of people she talked about how she was lucky to have 10 people at a book signing before, then she decided to try a new mystery. One for the 10, then add vampires for the Sci-fi people, werewolves for the fantasy people, and a graphic sex scene to bring in everyone else. This got a laugh from the crowd.

For about 45 minutes after her brief talk, she took questions from the audience, unfortunately one questioner gave away a big plot point which upset several in the crowd who had not read the newest book “Dead Reckoning”. We did learn this:

In response to if Ms. Harris could guess as to how many books she thinks there will be in the Sookie series she replied: She didn't have to guess. There will be 2. She stated that Sookie takes up a lot of her time and she has several ideas about other stories that she would like to explore. She wishes to stretch herself more as a writer.

To a question about the twist in the book playing a role in the end of the series she said that it would. That it is too cool to not end up using it, but did not specify further.

One fan asked if she had any say as to casting on True Blood and if she did could she recommend Peter O’Toole for Niall. Ms. Harris said, You know who would be great as Niall, David Bowie. He would be amazing.

As far as regrets in the series, Ms. Harris says she has several, but the big one she would do over is killing Claudine. She was later told that she killed two pregnant women in that book which basically resulted in a face palm moment. She stated she was in a “clear the decks” mood when she wrote it, but if she could do it over, she would not have killed Claudine.

Lastly, a fan asked if she was Team Eric or Team Bill, her response was perfect. Stating that it doesn’t really apply to her because she IS Bill and Eric.

After the Q & A she sat for autographs and would take short questions when we approached her. The line moved nicely and we all chatted while waiting. People had come from all over, some local, some drove, one woman near me was married to a pilot for United and opted to use the employee option and fly down from Illinois. The crowd was as diverse as their hometowns. Young, old, male, female a large diverse group that resembled a cross section of Bon Temps itself.

As everyone inched closer a Barnes & Noble staff member put post-its on the items you would liked signed so that everything was spelled correctly and just showed how smooth they were determined to make this experience.

Finally my turn came. Ms. Harris couldn’t have been nicer. She was kind and funny. I didn’t feel rushed at all and felt that she was truly appreciative of all her fans. It was an amazing experience. I got my items signed and my pictures that the staff was kind enough to take for me. They didn’t just wait for the one either, they were sure to capture several of the whole time I was up there.

I said my thanks to Ms. Harris and departed the stage for the next person. Despite another signing in Michigan the next day, plus meetings, Ms. Harris was determined to stay until everyone who had come out to see her got their chance. Not only is she an amazing talent, she is an amazing person.

Review for His Teddy Bear

Title : His Teddy Bear
Author: Eve Langlais
Description:Teddy, who is ironically enough a bear shifter, has finally found her mate. There’s one big problem though. He doesn’t like what he sees. Reece never imagined his chosen mate would be a woman with extra curves, but all it takes is one taste to realize the benefits and turn his world upside down.

Their arguments are many, their lust for each other fiery, but while he’s ready for the next step, Teddy keeps running. What will it take to win her trust and heart? And an even better question, will they ever make it to a bed?
Summary: While attending a Were Function where all weres hope to find their chosen mate is where the story of Teddy and Reece started. One whiff had Reece up and out of his chair and lead him to a group of women. However, Teddy wasn't the woman he was expecting, and she certainly wasn't his type. Teddy sees the look and decides to run from her chosen mate. He goes after her, helps her out of a bind, then mates her right then. But Teddy has other idea's and runs again, since she doesn't want a mate who obviously didn't appreciate her curves. What she didn't expect was him tracking her down, finding her, and trying to win her heart.
My thoughts: Eve Langlais wrote this short story well. I liked it myself. She brought out a curvy woman opposed to your regular svelte body ones. And she wouldn't bow to having a mate, even if it was destined, who wouldn't accept her for who she was. I have to say I love Teddy. She has spunk and though Reece at first made me mad I grew to like him. Once he got over his idea of what his ideal mate would look like, his wooing had me cheering for him. Their passion for each other was steamy and in the end it all came together for me.

Review for Pleasure With Purpose

Author : Lisa Renee Jones
Description: Heather and Brad have been close family friends for ten years but both have secretly pined for each other, secretly fantasized about one sultry hot night together. So when fate delivers them a chance at that night, will they take it and risk a lifetime of friendship being destroyed? Or will they pretend they can really wake up tomorrow and pretend it never happened?
Summary: "You've never had an orgasm!" After slipping that secret to her best friend who was like family, Heather was embarrassed to say the least. Especially since the guy she has been infatuated with wasn't too far away, though luckily he couldn't hear. Then comes the idea of finding her inner confidence and letting her inner sexiness out in time for a man-hunt at an upcoming wedding. Brad, the guy in question of the infatuated since her teen years, and brother of her best friend, decides he must take the protective route. Then he stumbles upon Heather, half naked and trying to connect with her inner sexy side. From there they cant resist the pull of attraction and give into a taste of their desire. That is, till Brad claims it was a mistake, making Heather pull away. Scared he is gonna lose her, he finds a way to get her alone after getting word of the big man-hunt and passion ignites and soars.
My Thoughts: Lisa Renee Jones had me laughing in the very beginning and sympathizing with her Heather. I was on a roller-coaster ride I didn't want to get off . For a short story I couldn't put it down and it left me wanting more. This is definitely a great short story.

Dead Reckoning Review

Description via Amazon.com: With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover Eric Northman and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot-which is much more complicated than she knows...

About the Author: Charlaine Harris writes both fantasies and mysteries. She lives in southern Arkansas with her family.

Review: Poor Sookie Stackhouse, always finding herself wrapped in one catastrophe after another and "Dead Reckoning" is no exception. After the fire bombing of Merlotte's, Sookie just wants to spend time with her, be it originally by deception, vampire husband, Eric Northman. She finds that the normalcy she craves is impossible and he is busy dealing with a heap of problems stemming from the new regent of Louisiana and liaison to King Felipe de Castro of Nevada, Arkansas, and Louisiana, Victor Madden. Victor continues with his plans of destroying Eric Northman and making life hell for him. Also finding a way to reach into her life beyond the grave are her Gran, Debbie Pelt, and Eric’s maker, Appius Ocella. All this drama while trying to plan a baby shower for her friend, Tara Thornton-Du Rone. This book is as good as any of the others in the series. Page turning, though at times there is more house cleaning than sexy Viking than I would like, overall it is a must read for any Sookie fan. I began to truly care about the character of Dermot and appreciate Pam in a whole new light. The book remains funny, mysterious, and sensual, keeping the reader fastly flipping pages to find out what will happen next. For the die hard Bill fans, much to my disappointment he does appear. As does, praise the saints and fuck a zombie in celebration, our good pal Bubba! Don’t miss out on the newest installment of the Southern Vampire Mysteries with its brilliant twist that could bring about a very happy end to the series.

Review for Spartan Heart, Part One

Title: Spartan Heart Part One
Author: Kristine Cheney
Description: Sent away to college in America, Evangeline swore she would never return to England. Anger loses its value when tragedy forces her home to assume ownership of the family's beloved Greco-Roman museum.

Placing a foolish, drunken kiss on a Greek statue in the museum's basement, Evangeline unknowingly frees a Spartan prince from an evil oracle's curse. Suddenly, her lonely life is invaded by the rakish man with knowing emerald green eyes who never eats or sleeps, and seems to know her every thought and feeling.

Falling in love is dangerous, especially when it's with a man who has already been claimed by the bitter oracle, Demona. From the moment of her kiss, Evangeline is swept into Dorien's world of mystery, danger, and passion. The oracle's fury only mounts as they unravel Demona's darkest secrets, but not before Demona finds out about their unborn half-breed immortal twins.

Demona uses her knowledge of the future to manipulate and destroy, but sometimes love has a will, and a heart of its own.

Summary : After nine years, death brought her back home. Her parent's death questionable, as any murder would be, coupled with the guilt for the occurrences before they died, Evangeline keeps to herself after the funeral until her quirky and outrageous best friend talks her into a night out on the town. After some drinks to drown out the pain, guilt, and loneliness she goes home and embarks on an adventure. Entering the secret tunnel that her dad only ever told her bout that would lead to the treasure recovery room that has some of the most valuable relics. One klutzy moment lead her to gaze upon what she considered must be the most valuable relic there, the statue of a Spartan that seemed to capture her interest with its beauty. In a drunken moment, she places a kiss upon the statue that she felt drawn to and it comes to life. Dorien, the Spartan that was released from his statue state by a chance kiss, is drawn to this woman as never before. Feeling a threat of the parents murderer now aimed at Evangeline the love of his life Dorien vows to protect her no matter the cost.

My Thoughts: Kristine Cheney has you turning the page and wanting the next installment of the saga as soon as you finish. Her writing has you sharing the sorrow, passion, and rage while reading. You have it all in the first part of the saga. It comes together so beautifully and leaves you with a c
liffhanger of a ending and reaching for Spartans Heart Part Two.
