Interview and Giveaway with Delilah Marvelle

Forever Mine
RUMOR series - PREQUEL

Love can open your eyes...

Lady Augustine Jane Ascott longs for a man who will do more than offer on her hand in marriage.  She wants a husband she can trust, someone who will shield her from the darkness of the world.  Her heart was broken when her younger brother was kidnapped years earlier, and she still carries the pain of his loss.

When the handsome Duke of Wentworth makes his feelings for her known, Augustine's past demons warn her away.  Besides, every woman in London knows he's devoted to the memory of his late wife.  But is it possible he cares for her after all -- and that their love can bring them the peace they both crave?
READER PLEASE NOTE:
Bonus Chapters from FOREVER MINE that were not included in this Prequel Novella are available for free download.  Click HERE to download them.  These two bonus chapters are the untold story of what happened to Nathaniel from Augustine's point of view.  While the publisher opted not to include the two chapters in FOREVER MINE, due to its dark nature, I feel this story and the entire series is incomplete without them.  These two chapters, in my opinion, are critical in understanding Nathaniel's story whom the entire series is based on.
Forever And A Day
RUMOR series, Book 1

Some memories really are unforgettable...

Roderick Gideon Tremayne, the recently appointed Duke of Wentworth, never expected to find himself in New York City, tracking down a mysterious map important to his late mother. And he certainly never expected to be injured, only to wake up with no memory of who he is. But when he sees the fiery-haired beauty who's taken it upon herself to rescue him, suddenly his memory is the last thing on his mind.
Georgia Milton, the young head of New York's notorious Forty Thieves, feels responsible for the man who was trying to save her reticule from a thief.  But she's not prepared for the fierce passion he ignites within her.  When his memory begins to return, her whole world is threatened, and Roderick must choose between the life he forgot and the life he never knew existed...
Forever A Lady
RUMOR series, Book 2

Two different classes, One common desire...

Bernadette Marie Burton may be the richest widow in England, but like her dreams of finding true passion, her reputation is deteriorating.  Cruel gossip, loneliness and hoards of opportunistic suitors have her believing Society couldn't be more vile....or dangerous.  So when an attacker threatens her life, she finds safety in the most unseemly of places: the arms of a mysterious, Irish-American gang leader.

His fortune stolen, young Matthew Joseph Milton is done playing the respectable gentleman.  In the slums of New York, only ruffians thrive.  But from the moment he arrives in London and encounters the volumptious Lady Bernadette, he  can't help but wonder about the finer pleasures he's missing.  Or just how much he's willing to risk -- not only to bed her, but  to prove his worth...

**********INTERVIEW*********

1~ Can you please share with us a little about yourself?
I’m a historical romance writer and have to say I love what I do and feel blessed to be able to live my dream.  I still can’t believe I’m getting paid to fantasize about history and men, lol.
2~ Is there anything you find particularly challenging about writing historical romances?
I would say the most challenging thing about writing historical romance is infusing historical accuracy in a manner that is both believable to a reader and not too intrusive.  There is a lot of history and words used in history that readers don’t accept as being true because they think it’s more of a modern invention (like the dildo or the term shag, for example, lol.  Both historically accurate for my era of 1830).  It’s difficult to introduce things to readers that is in fact historically accurate but a reader’s perception affects the decision of a writer as to whether or not to include it.  So it’s a power play for me to stay true to history while also ensuring my readers don’t get lost in the shuffle of history itself.
3~ What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
That I’m a hermit at heart.  I prefer to stay home and do nothing but spend time with my kids, my husband, read books, watch movies and write.  Of course…if I get a chance to travel to a historical place, then the hermit gets tossed.
4~ Can you please tell us a little about your newest release ( Forever A Lady 7/24) ?
FOREVER A LADY is the flip side of the story people didn't get to see in Book 1, FOREVER AND A DAY. We get to see the Forty Thieves (a gang mentioned in book 1) in action in the bowels of the Five Points and how they came to be in existence, given the story is about its leader, Matthew Milton.  Without any doubt, Matthew is what I call a gruff romantic. He loses everything (including the sight in one eye) but believes he still deserves everything, including a woman so high above his social circle, he can't reach the ladder. You think that stops him? Hell no.  And that's where the fun begins.  He is a refined pirate of the streets while Lady Bernadette is a rich widow who is done following the rules and decides to make a few of her own.  It was so much fun writing this story.  I got to explore sensuality levels that step beyond the first book.
5~ What's in store next for your readers or can you share anything about your current WIP?
I just finished doing the line edit for FOREVER A LORD, which is the third and last book in the Rumor series.  Without giving away too much, FOREVER A LORD touches on tying up all of the strings the series by finally letting the readers see into the life of Lord Atwood, who disappeared at the age of 10 but wasn’t heard from until thirty years later.  His story is going to astound a couple people, but hopefully in a good way, lol.
6~ Would you like to share an excerpt from Forever A Lady?
Yes!  I would!!!  I’ll give a nice and spicy version of an excerpt to do the book justice
She undid the lacings on her petticoats, her heart pounding at the realization that she was actually doing this. She was about to bed a man she had just met in the park.   Her petticoats dropped and she stood in only her chemise, corset, stockings and slippers. Holding his gaze, she kicked off her slippers, sending them into the folds of her petticoat.
She paused, knowing she couldn’t undo the corset on her own.
“All of it.” His voice dipped low.
She tried to steady her breathing. Tried. “I cannot undo the lacings on my own.”
He reached into the pocket of his great coat. Pulling out a folded razor blade, he flicked it open, the metal glinting against candlelight. “Allow me to play tailor.”
Her eyes widened as he rounded her. She jerked toward him. “I would rather you not use that.”
     “Why not?”
     “It makes me nervous.”
“I like making you nervous.” He grabbed her waist hard and spun her back around, jerking her to a halt in front of him, forcing her to face the open doors of the parlor. Leaning in from behind, he shoved her long hair to one side of her shoulder with the sweep of his other hand and slid the hot tip of his velvet tongue down her throat and shoulder.
She closed her eyes against the sensation, letting her head roll naturally to its side as his tongue made its way to the curve of her bare shoulder. Oh, God. He could have slit her throat and she couldn’t have stopped him.
He paused. “Don’t move.” Grabbing the top of her corset just beneath her shoulder blade with one large hand, he wedged the tip of the razor between the upper lacings and…sliced.
She winced, feeling the razor work its way through each lacing just above her skin, down, down, down until he tugged and the corset tumbled onto the floor.
He slowly rounded her, his boots echoing in the parlor, and snapped the blade of the razor back into its handle. Leaning toward a side table beside him, he set the razor on it, then methodically removed each of his two pistols from his leather belt. He set them beside the razor against the polished wood with a gentle clatter.
     It was like disarming France.
     And, somehow, she didn’t care.

7~ How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
It depends on the size of the woodchuck and the wood it plans to chuck and whether the wood was worth chucking.
8~ Please tell the Readers in two sentences why they should check out your Rumor Series?
Because I genuinely had a lot fun writing this series and even though it’s extremely steamy, there’s more to it than sex.  I did a lot of research for this series, everything from the New York City streets to bare-knuckle boxing.
9~ How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I went out to dinner with my family in downtown Portland and bought myself a historical gown I’ve had my eye on.
10~ How would you describe yourself in three words?
Constantly Overly Curious.
11~ Is there anything special you would like to share with the readers while we have you here today?
For those that have been following me and my writing for some time, I would like to announce that I will be returning to finishing the School of Gallantry series.  Readers have been asking me for years when I intend to finish the series about the three remaining heroes in that infamous school that educates men in the topic of love and seduction.  Book 3, Lady of Pleasure will be coming out March 1, 2013.
 Delilah Marvelle BIO:
Delilah Marvelle spent her youth studying various languages, reading voraciously and playing the pianoforte. She confesses that here ends the extent of her gentle breeding. She was a naughty child who was forever torturing her parents with countless adventures that they did not deem respectable. Confined to her room on many occasions due to these misadventures, she discovered the quill and its amazing power. Soon, to the dismay of her parents, she rather enjoyed being confined to her room and finished writing her first historical romance (which was a heart-stopping 800 pages long…) at the age of fourteen. She is a two time Golden Heart finalist and the winner of The Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Sensual HIstorical Romance of the Year.  You can visit her at her website at www.DelilahMarvelle.com or her blog, which explores the naughtier side of history, at www.DelilahMarvelle.blogspot.

HI Delilah!

I actually started following A Bit of Muslin before I even found out about your books! I usually don't get a chance to comment because I sneak reading it while I'm at work (just don't tell my boss!).

One day I'd love to listen to a conversation between you and your husband while your coming up with a plot for a new book! I have a feeling he has no problems with giving you some interesting suggestions!

Thanks for giving your readers the chance to win Forever and a Day or some Forever a Lady plus Trading Cards
