Jennifer Lyon grew up under the shadow of the Matterhorn at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. She attended Walt Disney elementary school and her very first playmate was her beloved dog, Duke, who was cast in the role of hero in all their adventures.

Clearly Jen was born to daydream. But it took her years to figure out how to turn her imagination into a career as an author. After marrying and becoming a full time mom to three sons, Jen launched her career with the award winning Samantha Shaw Mystery Series and other romantic mysteries under the name Jennifer Apodaca. Later, she took the name Jennifer Lyon, combined her love of witches, alpha males and sizzling romance into another award winning series, the Wing Slayer Hunters.

Jennifer has several new releases coming out this year.  THE PROPOSITION, the first book in her new Plus One Chronicleswas just released on February 24 and following later in the year will be Book Two: POSSESSION - Coming 5/28/13 and Book Three: OBSESSION - Coming 9/24/13.

1 ~ Can you please share with us a little about yourself?

Sure, I’m a wife and mom—I met my husband at the dog pound. That story cracks up our kids. I was working there in dog licensing, and my husband came in to do an audit.He looked super hot and sexy in his suit! We did the usual, fell in love, married and had three amazing sons. My husband is my biggest supporter, and the one who has encouraged me to Go Indie and self publish The Plus One Chronicles.

2 ~  Please tell us a little about your newest release ?

Happy to!! THE PROPOSITION, Book One in The Plus One Chronicles, is beginning of Kat and Sloane’s story. These two characters are incredibly special to me. They are both strong yet damaged. But together, they are whole and dynamic. One of the things I love about them is that they truly strengthen one another, much as I think my husband and I do for each other. The tagline for the series is:

A Proposition brings them together, will an Obsessiontear them apart?

3~  Would you like to share an excerpt with us today?

Absolutely! Here is a short clip from when Sloane first sees Kat, and learns about emergency brownies:

Raising his eyebrows, he asked, “Do I know you?”

His voice had a silky bite to it, and his words completely surprised her. She couldn’t imagine having met him and forgotten. Some things may have been wiped from her memory, but him? No one would forget a man that vital. This close, she saw a scar slashing through his left eyebrow, and another bracketed the right side of his harsh mouth. He wasn’t classically handsome, more like savagely beautiful.

Answer him!

“No.”

​Lowering his chin slightly, he regarded her beneath his arched brows. “And if I want to know you?”

​Traitorous warmth bloomed in her belly. She shut it down by digging the corner of the kit into her hipbone. That shaft of pain snapped her brain into action. He had to be amusing himself at the expense of the help. It was the only explanation she could think of. “Do you need a dozen cookies? A cake? Perhaps an emergency brownie?”

​Crinkles dug in at the corners of his eyes. “What kind of emergency requires a brownie?”

​She lifted one hand in a careless gesture. “Oh the usual. Breakups. In-laws arriving unexpectedly. The always popular dealing-with-the-jerk-boss. Running out of wine. And the classic…” She trailed off, telling herself not to do it. To shut up. 
​Challenge sparked in his eyes. “Come on, don’t be shy. I must know the classic emergency that requires a brownie.”

​Don’t say it. But her mouth was already moving. “P.M.S. or to the uninformed, Pushy Male Syndrome.”

​Seconds stretched out.

​Kat was brutally, sickeningly aware that she had gone too far. With a man who was clearly powerful. Entitled. And totally focused on her. Her stomach churned, and the kit slipped in her suddenly sweaty hands. She tightened her grip and just held on.

​The left corner of his mouth twitched. “Do you have a particular confection for the man suffering cruel rejection from a pretty baker?”

4~ What's in store next for your readers?

The next two books in The Plus One Chronicles will come out pretty quickly. Next up is the second book,POSSESSION that we hope to have out on 5.28.13 and OBSESSION out on 9.24.13

5~ What's the weirdest thing you've ever done in the name of research?

Hmm, my search engine has some pretty weird websites on its history. But the answer is probably when I was writing The Samantha Shaw Mystery Series under Jennifer Apodaca and went to the local police station to do some research. I was hoping they would put me in touch with their information officer. I really didn’t think this out—I just jumped in the car and went down there.

In shorts.

Yeah, not my best plan. I really thought I’d just get a contact phone number. Nope, the Lieutenant came out to meet me, took me on a tour, showing me their communications room, their weapons room pretty much everything and introducing me to VIPs who happened to be there.

And I was in shorts. Ugh! In my defense, I was seriously stressed about the book, and really just thought I’d get a quick visual of the station and ask for the business card of the information’s officer.

6~ What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?

I love romance of course, mostly contemporary and paranormal, but I will give anything a try. One of my favorite story lines is a woman in danger. I also like mystery, suspense and thrillers.

7~ What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Hmm, maybe that when I first started writing, I wrote historical romance? But it wasn’t until I wrote a sassy and sexy light mystery that I published.

8~  Do you sing and dance around the house while picking up?

I do if I’m alone and happy I can’t carry a tune nor can I dance well, so I try not to subject others to that. Oh wait, I take that back, I do a “victory dance” that my husband loves, LOL! But I’ve yet to show another living soul—aside from my husband--that particular dance. I think if I ever hit the USA Today or NY Times Best Seller list, then I might consider letting him video me doing that dance and putting it on my website. What do you all l think—should I do that?

9~ Describe yourself in three words?

Wife, mom, writer.

10~ What is the most embarrassing thing you got caught doing?

Accidentally going into the men’s restroom at an airport. I was dead tired on a layover, and somehow went into the wrong restroom. That’s bad enough, but I didn’t realize it until after I came out of the stall and saw a man…so embarrassing! And stupid!

11~ How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

We bought the desk, filing cabinet and bookshelves for my office. I still love them. The desk is a huge oak monstrosity and absolutely perfect for me.

12~ What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?

It depends. Often the first half of the book is hard to write for me. The first couple scenes are critical so those are hard. Also, writing emotional scenes are more difficult than funny ones.

13~ Is there anything special you would like to say to your readers while we have you here today?

Thank you! I wouldn’t have this job that I love without my readers! I appreciate each of you, especially since I’m a reader too
