Review for Darkeness Awakened by Stephanie Rowe

Title: Darkness Awakened (Primal Heat Trilogy) (Order of the Blade)
Author" Stephanie Rowe

Description: The Calydons are a race of ancient immortals cursed with
a dark side. Each Calydon is destined to meet his soul mate, to be so
drawn to her that he is unable to resist bonding with her through the
rituals of his race...

...but their destiny is to destroy each other and all they care about the moment their bond is complete.

Quinn Masters will stop at nothing to rescue his rogue teammate. To save his blood brother and ensure his brand of justice triumphs, Quinn will break every rule of his kind and partner with the sensuous, courageous woman destined to be his ultimate destruction.

Haunted by a brutal past, Illusionist Grace Matthews will risk
everything to save her kidnapped sister, including putting her life in the sinfully capable hands of an immortal warrior whose ravaging kisses and intense passion propel her ruthlessly toward a fateful destiny she can't afford to believe in.

My Thoughts: Wow! Thank you Stephanie Rowe for letting me review "Darkness Awakened", the first book in this amazing new paranormal series. You created a wonderfully new and enthralling world of calydons. I must admit, I'm a bit in love with them all after seeing the group of warriors in the first book, but let's get to the characters of the first book .

Oh Quinn, complete warrior and protector, got dealt a blow when his trainees were taken out. He had only started to recover when he found one of his weapons missing as well as the thought that one of his good friends and fellow warriors may have been the cause of everything. He is determined to get to the bottom of the matter, one way or another, and find the truth.

What he doesn't expect is Grace, who just happens to be his Sheva. Her sister has gone missing and she has searched him out to help find her. Once he caught her scent, she drew him back. Grace is my kind of girl. She is loyal, has some spunk, and is all heart. Even though she is vulnerable and scared of what she may do if a illusion triggers, her sister is more important. Plus she has more backbone than she gives
herself credit.

Quinn and Grace have an instant attraction, which had me swooning. Besides that, you have to love a story where they are determined destiny will not win and the struggle they go through to ensure it. I absolutely loved Quinn and Grace. He is a fierce warrior, but when it comes to his Sheva, the shameless, playful flirt comes out. They set the pages on fire with their passion for each other. I love a tender, possessive male, when it's directed at his Sheva, then pure warrior when it's down to the mission. When it comes to Quinn, Grace is able to feel like she isn't alone and finally accepted. I can't wait to see what Rowe has in store for us in the calydon
world, but I'm already begging for more. The next book in the series is "Darkness Seduced". I, for one, am ready to be seduced. Are you?

Review for Crave (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series #2) by Felicity Heaton

Title: Crave
Author: Felicity Heaton

Description: His mind has been set on his work for the past one hundred years. Now a forbidden beauty has stolen his attention and is threatening to steal his heart too.

Callum has come to the city of romance on business, not pleasure, but when he sets eyes on a gorgeous werewolf in a nightclub, he can’t ignore the dark carnal craving she ignites in him. His work for Vampirerotique, the erotic theatre he runs with three other vampires, can wait. The only thing that matters now is satisfying his sinful hunger for a woman who most vampires would consider an enemy.

Kristina is on the run from her pack. Her alpha is intent on forcing her to bear his child and she’s not about to live through the same nightmare as her mother had. When a tall, dark and sexy vampire catches her eye, she can’t believe the ferocity of the desire he unleashes in her or the fact that she enjoys the feel of his eyes on her and his silent pursuit of her in the clubs each night.

When Kristina finally gets a taste of Callum in a forbidden kiss, will she be strong enough to resist the allure of the vampire and his offer to share his bed for a week of unbridled, wild sex, or will she surrender to her own craving for the safety and passion she finds in his embrace?

My Thoughts: “Crave” is the second book in the “Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance” Series. Callum was out scouting female werewolves in Paris for a show at Vampirerotique. The first night at a club he sees Kristina and is drawn to her. Kristina is a wolf on the run from her pack, who notices Callum following and watching her through the week and it turns her on. One night she gives into the urge and goes to talk to him. One steamy kiss is all it took to hook Callum for wanting more of her taste, but his fangs come out. Kristina runs off in fear, but not for long. Callum catches up. One hot, steamy sex session in a booth leads to a proposition on the table. The offer? To spend the week indulging in this lust that will scratch an itch. Kristina has a decision to make, but clearly it’s a easy one.

Felicity Heaton has a winner with this series. Talk about hot!! Like burning you up, thigh clenching, OMG hot. I loved Callum and Kristina. I started this book at 11:30 at night. By one o’clock, I knew I had to be up in a few hours, but I kept saying a few more pages, just five more minutes. By two in the morning, I still didn't want to put the book down. Callum is so yummy. He is protective and fierce when it comes to Kristina. While you see Kristina as confident with a side of sass and backbone, underneath all that she is so vulnerable and soft. She finds it hard to trust, but will not let that get in the way of a forbidden, lusty romance. Callum knows she is his and will do anything to get her to see that, but goes at her pace as to not scare her off. In this story, we will see forbidden love conquers what others may think or the consequences that may occur. The passion will make you sizzle and crave more. Heaton not only brings us a story that hits our erotic side with enough smut to keep us hot, but also brings a forbidden love to root for. As it develops, it shows us love, passion and no matter how different you are, conquers all. I can't wait to see what's next in the “Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance Series“. Maybe no more teasing with Snow and his story next, though I wouldn't mind Antoine either.

I would like to thank Felicity for giving me a ARC to review this yummy read.

Review for A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing by Terry Spear

Title: A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing
Author: Terry Spear
Description: Her instincts tell her he's dangerous...
While her overprotective brother's away, Meara Greymere's planning to play—and it wouldn't hurt to find herself a mate in the process. The last thing she needs is one of his SEAL buddies spoiling her fun, even if the guy is the hottest one she's ever seen...

His powers of persuasion are impossible to resist...

Finn Emerson is a battle-hardened Navy SEAL and alpha wolf. He's a little overqualified for baby-sitting, but feisty Meara is attracting trouble like a magnet...

As the only responsible alpha male in the vicinity, Finn is going to have to protect this intriguing woman from a horde of questionable men, and definitely from himself...

My Thoughts: Meara can't get rid of her over protective Navy SEAL brother soon enough. She is mate hunting and won’t be under his thumb. Meara sets up the mate hunting plan by placing an ad that tells the Alpha males to come check into her cabins. As she is scouting them out in hopes of finding a mate, her brother, off on his honeymoon, will never be wiser or so she thinks.

Finn Emerson comes to warn them about attacks on the SEAL team and sees the ad. He decides that he will be there to protect and watch Meara while Hunter is away. Finn pretends to “claim her " as a mate and spreads his scent to warn off others. A body washes up near Meara's cabin making Finn think she is definitely the target the assassin is after. So he takes her to a "safe house" and that is where the passion ignites. The flames of desire are stoked high until there is nothing you can do, but enjoy and let it burn.
Ok let me start with saying I love Terry Spear's wolves. I picked up “Destiny of a Wolf” a few years ago, then had to buy the whole series. This story caught me from beginning until the end. I loved Meara with her take no BS, Alpha in her own right personality. You have to love a woman who can hold her own against a man. With a feisty attitude and backbone, not to mention a rifle under her bed, she can bring an Alpha SEAL to his knees. Finn had me swooning. I love and I mean LOVE Alpha men and Finn is that in spades. Finn and Meara struggle with their growing attraction, but the kisses between them, heat up and the foreplay, without the actual mating, sizzles. Spears definitely threw me for a loop in the end of the story. I was like ‘Really? I had no idea.’ and ‘Wasn't expecting that‘. Needless to say, it was a great surprise, since I thought I had it all figured out. I definitely loved this book. From the chemistry between the characters to the intrigue it leads up to, not to mention the slow building yet sizzling romance between Finn and Meara, I was not wanting it to end. It left me almost pleading for more. I know one guy I want to see more of is Bjornolf! Spear you did it to me again. I am in love with the wolf world you created and wouldn't mind an Alpha SEAL wolf of my own.

I would like to thank Terry Spear for letting me review this book.

Review for Bound By Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

Title: Bound By Darkness

Author: Alexandra Ivy

Description: The Sylvermysts have a reputation as sinister cousins to the fey, and none are more mysterious than Ariyal and his tribe. To save his people from banishment, he faces a new challenge: Jaelyn, an elite vampire warrior sent to capture him. By rights, he should kill her on sight. Yet he cannot bring himself to hurt her—or to resist her…

Jaelyn is stunningly beautiful, utterly lethal—and always alone. Until Ariyal. From their first encounter, she knows that what's between them is more dangerous than simple lust. And as they unite to thwart a terrifying prophecy that will mean the end of his clan and of the world they know, she will risk everything to fulfill her destiny by his side…

My Thoughts: Let me start by saying the “Guardians of Eternity” is one of my favorite series. I discovered this series by Alexandra Ivy by chance a few years ago when I saw “When Darkness Comes” (book one in the series) on the shelf and grabbed it up to give it a chance. Next thing I know I  was ordering all the books and kept buying when I knew the newest one would be out. Each time you wonder will it fall short of the last and for the latest installment I can tell you it sure hasn’t. I will say there is a lot going on in the beginning. First there is Jaelyn, a vampire and trained hunter, who has had a few crucial rules beaten into her such as no intimacy, no feelings and no taking a mate. Next is Ariyal, the prince of the Sylvermist, who was the bad guy when he was introduced in the last book, but this time you see a whole new side of him as one of the leading characters. I loved seeing a lot of the prior characters from the series brought into play, especially the lovable French gargoyle Levet.

“Bound by Darkness” has Jaelyn being sent by the commission to bring back Ariyal, but then her mission changes to only keeping an eye on him. Problem is, Ariyal brings forth feelings she was trained to not have. As hunters are not allowed feelings, Ariyal making her hot and wanting him, infuriates her. Ariyal has always wanted Jaelyn. Despite his want, he is suspicious of her sudden willingness to help him stop a ritual that would bring back the Dark Lord. Suspicious or not though, he can't bring it to himself to get rid of her. So together they embark on a journey to save the world. Along the way Ariyal puts chinks in Jaelyn’s armor that protects where her feelings are hidden.

Jaelyn is the kind of leading lady I love! She is a sarcastic, strong lady, but underneath it all is just a woman with a passionate and vulnerable side. Ariyal turns into quite the leading man. I love how Ivy’s leading men are never Prince Charmings, but show they have flaws. The banter and chemistry sizzles amongst the pages and you start rooting for the couple to overcome all obstacles. I wish there were more scenes with Levet. That is my only complaint. There is something about that little French gargoyle that always brings a smile to my face. Maybe it's because he catches all the ladies hearts, while irritating the males. This book has it all demons, spirits, wizards, trolls, ogres and zombies, Oh my! Ivy also gives you a taste of whats to come with Santiago and Nefri. The peek behind the veil has you wanting to see what will happen and leaves you wishing you could see it now. This Guardian's of Eternity fan will be holding her breath till I get my next fix in the world Ivy has created!

I would also like to thank Alexandra Ivy for providing a ARC for review.

Review for Second Grave on the Left

Title: Second Grave On The Left
Author: Darynda Jones
Description: Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans
When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message. Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

My Thoughts: Darynda Jones, you took me for one hell of a ride! I mean this literally. Normally I include a Summary with my thoughts, but the above pretty much states it all and I don't want to give spoilers. I fell in love again, not only with the hot son of Satan Reyes, but also with one bad ass, smart ass grim reaper that kept me on a constant high. I think she is my Idol. I kept seeing parts of me in Charley. There were times I was cracking up so hard, then at the end I started to tear up and still was able to let a laugh pop out thanks to Charley's wicked mouth. This story is a roller coaster ride you won't want to get off of from start to finish. The book's a page turner till the end you're on an adventure with Charley finding people dead and alive, a possible conspiracy theory, and assassins at every turn. I'm telling you now, you will want to grab this book up as soon as it hits the shelves or online store. And once you get it in your hands, you wont be able to put it down.I am on pins and needles till February 2012 for the next installment, Third Grave Dead Ahead. Where i am in no doubt Jones will have us on another adventure that is irresistable, witty and more awesome then the last two. Where Charely and her amazing cast of characters that we cant help but love will once again claim us as their captive audience. I for one am hoping i'm lucky enough to do a review for Third Grave Dead Ahead as well.
