******** EXCERPT *********
“Hello.”
He smiled, hoping he wouldn’t sweat through his shirt. July in Texas
proved to be brutally hot. “I’m looking for Melanie Cruz.”
“I don’t use Cruz anymore.” She extended her hand to shake his. “I’m Melanie Driscoll. How can I help you?”
He
took her hand, dainty next to his, and shook it for a moment before
dropping his own to his side. The drop-dead gorgeous redhead bombshell
next to him happened to be Melanie Cruz—no, Driscoll. He wanted to pull
her into his arms and kiss her until neither of them could breathe.
Instead, his job required him to interrogate her.
“My
name is Griffith McCallister, Ms. Driscoll. And I’ve been trying to get
a hold of you for a few days. You’re a hard woman to track down.”
Her eyes, which had been warm and inviting even after he’d used her married name, cooled with his words.
“You didn’t get the impression when I didn’t return one single phone call you made that perhaps I did not wish to speak to you?”
She
turned on her heel like a woman on a mission and stalked away from him.
He couldn’t help the small grin that crossed his lips. She might live
on some kind of hippie compound but Melanie Driscoll behaved exactly
like every other woman he’d ever met when it came to him. She turned and
walked the other way.
“Well
now, Melanie.” He walked at a brisk pace to catch up with her. “I’m
afraid you have to speak with me. I’ve been paid to find Victor, and
find him, I will.”
She
stopped her advance and whirled around to regard him. “I am not married
to Victor anymore. However, I have no intention of discussing him with
complete strangers who come looking for him.”
Still in love with the man, then. Good information for him to have.
As
a teenager, Rebecca Royce would hide in her room to read her favorite
romance novels when she was supposed to be doing her homework. She
hopes, these days, that her parents think it was well worth it.
Rebecca

her best friend. They’ve just moved to Texas where Rebecca is
discovering a new love for barbecue!
She's
in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and tries to
use all of these elements in her writing. She's been told she's a little
bloodthirsty so she hopes that when you read her work you'll enjoy the
action packed ride that always ends in romance. Rebecca loves to write
